"USE LESS" wrapping paper

Wrapping
paper is packing material for consumption; thrown away after only
serving to soften a six walled advertisement. My hope was to transform
its "use". The plain white exterior of the paper makes the gift
generic rather than interesting. The cut-out type labels the contents
as "useless", commands the viewer to "use less", and fails to conceal
the underlying gift. Christmas trees normally portrayed on the outside
of the paper ride inside on the back of a logging truck; an image
only visible once the paper has finally been used, and it has been
removed to reveal the gift and the message inside. Media becomes
message and uselessness inherits use.
