  • LIFT10 - CONNECTED PEOPLE IDENTITY 1: THE GIANT MOBILE (Client News)

For this year lift theme "connected people", we decided to work on the idea of balance, equilibrium, that composed the conference population: from activist to hackers, from pirate to fans, from early adopters to digital natives.

The graphic treatment followed the same line we developed from the first lift conference in 2006, using traditional drawings and low-tech animation techniques contrasting with the cutting-edge technologies and concepts characterizing lift spirit.

This concept was materialized among others items by the realisation of a giant moving object, a 5.5 x 2.2 m. mobile, composed of free handmade typography and vibrant colored shapes. This piece served two purposes: as a stage eye-catcher (doing well also on the video) and as a link between the physical and the digital expression of the brand. From a 2D static image on the poster and stickers, it became a 3D moving object on the stage and 2D animation on the video and in the stop motion animation.

  • Personalized QRCode - adapting new technology to existing visual identity (Client News)

The Quick Response codes (QR Codes) are becoming the evident new standard for 2-dimensional codes.
We can find them in our train tickets, catalogs, poster, flyer and on some products.
Basically they are useful to make quick links to urls that will show extra content and, more globally, it's opening a whole world of new possibilities in term of augmented communication.

However, one of the problem is the adaptation of theses codes in a graphically controlled environment, because of the standard, black and white, un-branded look that gives not the seduction it should.

With their combined competences, B&B and OZWE worked on developing new branded QRCodes, aligned with the visual identities elements of a specific brand, and, therefore, allowing different uses of these communication elements: bigger, better and bolder.

But this is not all. What makes also a difference for our clients is that we run a systematic testing program with all major QRCode scanner, in various conditions and with different QR Codes sizes, that gives an accurate report about how the branded QRCode will be recognized and for what kind of environement it is best suited.

The images show some of the graphic research we did for our clients.

In a larger perspective, we expect that the applications of new interfaces and technology with strong existing identities will be a great new challenge for visual communication agencies. Clients questions such as: how will my logo appear in 3D ? how can I use augmented reality without gadgetizing my brand ? how can I take advantage of the geo-located technologies in my communications stream ? How can I link my good old printed material with interactive interfaces ?

Just asked us, we may have some tips.

  • QUARTIER DU FLON - LE LIVRE (Client News)

  • GAME CONTROLLERS POSTER (Client News)

Nicolas Nova (from liftlab) and I are working on a potential book about game controllers genealogy and evolution.
We already collected a lot of material and we shot a collection of 100 different gamepads and controllers of all kind. One of them was the famous Power Glove, an iconic device for the NES, launched in 1989, which had better performance in impressing your friends than in actually control a game. When I saw the photo in a huge format, with all the details and traces of use, I decided to make a poster for the beauty of it.
More to come of course. You can follow also Nicolas Nova's blog for more news.
